GET READY

Once school starts to wind down, the temptation to do something really remarkable begins creeping in. Bais Chana’s Jewish Un-Camp may be just what you’re looking for. Hike the great outdoors, paint to your heart’s content, kayak, go rock-climbing, catch a few frogs and ask whatever big questions are on your mind.
The Jewish Un-Camp is an open-minded learning program where teen girls, ages 15-18, can explore their Judaism, expand their minds and connect with other cool Jewish teens. You’ll meet the most diverse group of girls from all over the globe and all across the Jewish spectrum, in an environment that’s inclusive, nonjudgmental and open.

CLASSES
Think, laugh, debate, absorb and grapple with your most important questions about life. Two fascinating classes daily on the heart and soul of Judaism will challenge and stimulate your thinking. Take on the human psyche, the purpose of life, what true love really means, what a soul is, what G-d wants from us, the differences between men and women, why marriage, how to beat sadness, what fate and free choice are and much more. Extra bonus: no tests.

ACTIVITIES
Get ready for the stunning natural beauty of Wisconsin and bring a sense of adventure. We’re going hiking, biking, kayaking, caving, wall-climbing, team building, stream hopping and frog catching, and doing service projects, pottery, painting, stained glass, graphology, comedy improv and more. (If milking a cow has been a life-long dream, you’re coming to the right place.)
Let us know on your application if you have any restrictions on activities. We’ll make sure you don’t spend too much time sitting on the bus flipping through back-issues of the Sheboygan Press.

WHAT TO PACK
Pack all bedding, lots of towels, a light blanket, casual summer clothes and clothes for Shabbat, sweatshirt, bathing suit, exercise clothes, a small backpack, a camera, a smock or old shirt, sneakers, hiking shoes or boots, a water bottle (very important), sunscreen, spending money, all your own toiletries, and a supply of laundry detergent (washer and dryer are on property). You’ll be sleeping dormitory-style so please resist the urge to pack most of what you own.

Dear Parents,
In just a few short years your daughter will be making the biggest decisions of her life: which man she’ll marry, how she’ll raise her family and what her life’s work will be. With so much competing for her attention – peer culture, the internet, music, movies, advertising – you have to wonder how she’s going to sort it all out.
Enter the Jewish Un-Camp, a project of
Bais Chana Women International. We’ve been running retreats for Jewish adolescent girls since 1991, welcoming thousands of girls from the most diverse backgrounds imaginable and from all over the world whose parents were looking for exactly the same thing you want for your daughter: clarity and some sound guidance.
The Jewish Un-Camp is a non-judgmental, inclusive environment where your daughter will meet mentors and big sisters, best friends, and wise, caring teachers. She’ll ask her most important questions about life and get answers she can count on, grounded in Judaism’s most profound teachings. (Watch
this video to see what the girls ask.) But what’s really incredible is that she’ll refer back to what she learns with us, and to the people she learned from and with, throughout her teen years and well into her twenties and thirties.

to see if Bais Chana’s Jewish Un-Camp is a fit for your daughter. Having spent over 18 years with young women like your daughter we’ve developed an unmatched expertise in the spiritual and moral development of Jewish adolescent girls, and we’re here to share it.
Finally, take a minute to look at our
photo albums and
videos, and read girls’
impressions. We’re serious about our objective but give the girls a fantastic time when they’re with us!
Looking forward to meeting your daughter this year,
Hinda Leah Sharfstein
