Not much rest, but a whole LOT of fun…

Shabbos was a whirlwind of activity here at Tahigwa. We wish we could show you the flower arrangements we made for the table and the beautiful clothes we wore to honor the Shabbat queen, along with everything else. But alas, we can’t.

But we can show you CHALLAH PICS!

Mixing, braiding, and baking was a blast. (But the real fun came when we got to eat.)

We were joined by the lovely Hertzel family of Postville, whose presence added quite a lot to our Shabbos experience. At the evening meal, Rabbi Hertzel shared a beautiful story about a woman whose Jewish identity was a mystery to her, until an interesting run-in with a priest made her realize who she really was. (A Jew and a priest go into a church…sounds like a joke, doesn’t it?)

The lesson: no matter how confused or lost a person gets, her essence does not change– it merely waits for her to uncover it once more so that it can shine forth at full force.

The inspiration, combined with delicious food, thought-provoking conversations, and a group of young, interesting people observing the holiest day of the week together, was indescribable. Plus, there was a troupe of adorable kids running around, and that just makes everything all the better.

Stay tuned to here all about this week’s Un-Camp happenings…you know there will be lots of them.
